While the initial shots missed Vikas, they struck his father, Sohanlal (50). The firing created chaos in the crowded market. As the remaining attackers fled, the surrounding crowd overpowered and severely beat Luhari. Witnesses reported that someone in the mob then shot the suspect during the altercation.

A stray bullet also struck a bystander during the chaos. Police rushed all the injured to the hospital, where doctors declared the father-son duo and Luhari dead.
A video of the incident surfaced on Wednesday, showing the gravity of the attack. The tragedy has left the family devastated as Vikas had been married for only six months, and his wife is currently two months pregnant. With the father and son gone, the family is now left with only two bereaved women, Sohanlal’s wife and his daughter-in-law. The father and son were cremated on Wednesday morning.
